Pottstown BID launches new website, partnership with Locable

POTTSTOWN — The Pottstown Business Improvement District and Locable have announced a joint initiative aimed at expanding the local digital landscape.

This partnership will empower local businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations to become more effective at marketing without needing to be marketing experts themselves, according to a press release announcing the initiative.

The Business Improvement District has launched its new website — — which includes more local resources and information for businesses and residents.

“We are excited to partner with Locable to be able to give our businesses the opportunity to promote to existing and new customers, while having ownership for their own messaging,” Peggy Lee-Clark, executive director of Pottstown Area Economic Development, known as PAED, said in a statement. “As businesses sign on, the site will become built out and a premier resource.”

Locable simplifies local marketing, automates cross-promotion, and enables impactful collaboration for local businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations. It offers free and low-cost marketing tools, according to the press release.

Through the partnership with Locable, the new website can offer tools to automatically include content, events, and information from participating local businesses, the Improvement District said.

Visitors to the news website will be able to:

• Find information about BID businesses

• See and add community activities and events on the Community Calendar

• Look for updates and local stories that share examples of what makes Pottstown great, and more.

As part of the collaboration, Locable plans to leverage Local Connections to stimulate community engagement and assess the digital standing of local businesses, the company said in the release.

The company’s suite of tools aids in email marketing, content creation, and distribution, and more, using its marketing approach that focuses on 15-minute activities.

Free and low-cost marketing tools, which Locable said are more potent when cross-linked with others in the community, ensure that local marketing is “fast, fun, and seamless,” the company said.

Signing Up

Anyone who runs a business, nonprofit or civic organization in or around Pottstown can sign up to register for Locable’s free Engage Plan. The registration process takes about 15 minutes, according to the release.

Among the benefits of the plan: posting events, job and volunteer openings; cross-promotion; collecting and promoting customer reviews; selling featured products and gift cards online; and adding forms to generate leads.

The Pottstown Business Improvement District was established by Ordinance 2239, is managed by the Pottstown Business Improvement District Management Association, and governed by a board of directors that represents areas within the district.

The boundaries of the Pottstown Business Improvement District include all of the properties of East High Street from Manatawny Street through to the end of the 500 block at Warren Street, encompassing King Street from Manatawny Street to Charlotte Street, North and South Charlotte Street from Chestnut Street to Queen Street, 170 South St. and North and South Hanover Street from King Street to Industrial Highway.

In the fall, the Pottstown Business Improvement District started working with Locable to launch a website and marketing push.
