Basketball Ireland’s international teams will wear Nike kits from Autumn 2024, following the announcement of a landmark six-year partnership agreement between Basketball Ireland and KitKing, Nike’s team wear partner for Great Britain and Ireland.
Irish international basketball teams will be the only current Irish international sides to sport the iconic Nike swoosh as Nike becomes Basketball Ireland’s official kit partner.
This significant commercial agreement will begin on September 1st.
Speaking from Nike UK & Ireland HQ in London, Basketball Ireland CEO John Feehan said: “We’re delighted to have joined forces with KitKing and Nike. Nike is synonymous with basketball, and this partnership is a major acknowledgement of the progress that basketball is making here in Ireland. Having Nike – the world’s number one sports brand – adorn our kit and leisurewear will help us elevate the sport even further, both in Ireland and beyond.”
Basketball Ireland has been working with KitKing to design and develop the new Nike Ireland international kit and leisurewear range. The official kit launch will take place in late Autumn.
“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Basketball Ireland,” added Dipa Patel, KitKing CEO.
“Basketball is Ireland’s number one indoor sport, and its popularity and growth are clear. This partnership will see all Irish international teams – from senior, underage, academy and masters level – wear the Nike swoosh. Our designers have been collaborating with Basketball Ireland to bring to life an exciting on-court, off-court and leisurewear range that we believe sports fans will love too.”
The new Nike replica kit and leisurewear will be available at the end of 2024 to buy through Basketball Ireland’s exclusive retail partner, Intersport Elverys.
Additionally, KitKing will serve as Basketball Ireland’s official team wear partner, catering to the kit requirements of clubs across Ireland.
Sport for Business will host its inaugural Children and Sport Conference in Dublin on Thursday morning, September 19th. This is one of many events planned for the remainder of 2024.
